Release notes
What's New
0.13.1
- A designed installer: open the DMG and drag ColorPickr onto Applications, following the arrow.
- Opened ColorPickr from the installer or Downloads? It offers to move itself to Applications, reopens from there and ejects the installer.
- Updates show up in the menu bar: a dot on the eyedropper and an Update button in the panel, with the release notes one click away. No pop-ups while you work.
- Settings › Updates can download updates in the background, ready to install when you quit.
0.13.0
- Palette Studio (⇧⌘G): press Space for a new palette. Lock the colors you love and reroll the rest. Every roll includes a light and a dark color that are easy to read together.
- Contrast Checker: one text color on one background, previewed as headlines, body text, small print and buttons. Pick both from the screen and fix either in one click.
- Value Study on mood boards: see your board in grayscale, three values, or light and dark to check a composition before color.
- New formats: HSB and CMYK.
- New exports: Procreate Swatches, SCSS, Material UI, Flutter, Jetpack Compose and CSV.
0.12.0
- ColorBody is now ColorPickr. Same app, new name: your boards, palettes, themes, shortcuts and Screen Recording permission all carry over.
- If you turned on "Open when I log in", check it once in Settings › General, since macOS may list the login item under the old name.
0.11.2
- Colors from a website waits for the page to finish: loading screens, fonts, images and late content. The colors come from what the page actually shows, including styles added by JavaScript.
- While it works, ColorBody shows each step (opening, loading all content, loading images further down, collecting colors) and tells you when a site is taking longer.
0.11.1
- Undo and Redo now work from the Edit menu and with ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z, and the menu names what it will undo.
0.11.0
- Undo and redo (⌘Z, ⇧⌘Z) for boards, palettes and themes, including deleted images and boards.
- A new first-run guide: pick, collect, make a theme, then start where you like.
- What's New opens once after each update.
- Your data is backed up automatically before a new version reads it.
- Help › Send Feedback opens a report with your versions filled in.
- Plainer words: picks say "Easy to read", "Big text only" or "Hard to read". The empty Library shows where to start.
0.10.0
- Make Theme now offers four finished themes from your colors (Brand, Calm, Bold and Midnight), shown on a real website, app and dashboard in light and dark. Every one is easy to read before you touch it.
- Edit a theme by clicking the preview: click a button, a card or the background and choose its color. A check or a warning tells you if everything stays easy to read, and Make It Readable fixes it.
- Themes made from a mood board live on its canvas as a live preview and appear in its brand sheet.
- Colors from a website: paste an address and get a mood board with a screenshot of the page and the colors its design uses most. Paste a link on any board to add a site.
0.9.0
- Floating palette: keep a board or palette over every app and Space with ⌃⌥P. Click to copy, drag colors into any app, add your latest pick in one click, and keep a board's references in view. Drop it near an edge or corner and it snaps there.
- A prominent Pick button in the floating palette, the Library and the Color Wheel. It picks into where you are: the floating palette's project, the open board (as a chip) or the wheel's base color. ⇧-click to pick several in a row.
0.8.1
- The board canvas is lighter in light mode and a deep gray in dark mode, so your references stand out.
- New items wrap into rows instead of running off the side, and new images start larger.
- Boards that don't fit the window open zoomed to fit.
0.8.0
- Mood boards are now a freeform canvas: drag images anywhere, resize them, add notes, and keep picked colors as chips beside your references. Tidy Up, zoom, and a grid view when you want one.
- Area picks land on a board: drag a rectangle on screen with ⌃⌥C and that part of the screen joins the board you opened last, palette and all.
- Brand sheets: a one-page PDF or PNG of a board, palette or theme, with references, color values and passing text pairs, ready to send.
0.7.0
- Mood boards: drop, paste or choose images and get one palette from all of them. Pick exact colors from any image with the eyedropper. Palettes saved from a board keep its images as their reference.
- Color Wheel in OKLCH: drag any handle and the harmony turns with it, handles stop at the gamut's edge, sRGB and Display P3, keyboard fine-tuning, and any palette plotted for comparison.
- Plainer color names: dark yellow-greens are "olive", dark blues "navy", pale greens "mint".
- Paste or Import shows what to do when it's empty, with a Try an Example button.
- The version number in Settings and Help is now correct.
0.6.0
